Review: "Wonderful Night!"

Victorian Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast

Guthrie, Oklahoma, USA

"This is our favorite of ALL the B&Bs we have stayed. The hot tub was a wonderful plus for romance on our 47th wedding anniversary.! The room had so many extras, drinks, freshly-baked brownies, movies. The breakfast was great, too!"

Relax and enjoy a romantic bed & breakfast that immerses the senses in times past, when life was simpler and guests were nestled in the gracious lap of luxury. Beautifully restored, furnished with antiques & listed on the National Register, our inn offers well-appointed non-smoking guest rooms, all with private baths that each include either a Jacuzzi or private outdoor hot tub. Innkeepers provide complementary assistance with all arrangements, including horse-drawn carriage rides, trolley tour tickets, dinner reservations, theater tickets, flowers,& more. Located on a nostalgic brick street in the country's largest urban Historic District, this lovely 1908 Victorian home rises above its surroundings in a manner intended to make the original middle-class owners seem more affluent. As with most who were raised in the Victorian culture of the day, David and Amina Rainsburg, who built it and first lived here, probably strived to appear as if they belonged to the upper class regardless of their actual means; a tendency their house reflected. Rainsburg was station agent for the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad. The Rainsburgs elevated the height of the home with matching retaining and foundation walls, adorned it with third-story Palladian windows & graced it with a wrap-around porch supported by ten Roman columns. Today it's surrounded by a romantic white picket fence, lush gardens with soothing water features, & cozy nooks with quiet sitting areas; each beckoning visitors to a enjoy a calm repose. Innkeepers documented much house history, with information/artifacts about former resident families: Rainsburg (1908-1917), Shumate (1930¿s), and Shope (1940-1987). The collection includes early photographs, documents, & love letters found in a wall; written from a homesick WWII soldier in Europe, to his wife at this address. The story of the letters was recently told on Oklahoma City and Tulsa CBS affiliate TV news shows & featured in OKC's daily paper.
